My EmployPreneur Journey

Just like any other government employee out there, I feel confident and reliant on my belief of having a stable and secured source of income.
Why not? Working in the government is a dream of most people in the Philippines. With the competitive salary packages and other benefits one could get, people would certainly aim to get a plantilla position. Take a look at these advantages of working in a government:
Security of Tenure - this means that permanent government employees cannot be easily removed from service without any valid reasons. Once you are appointed in the service, you can stay until the age of 65 or until you choose to retire earlier or voluntarily resign from service.
Two-day Off in a Week - government employees work from 8:00-5:00 for 5 days/week only, usually Mondays to Fridays and enjoy the weekends. Unlike in the private sectors where employees usually have more working time and sometimes, even Sundays and Holidays.
Vacation & Sick Leave Benefits - they are entitled to a 15 days vacation and 15 days sick leave in a year, convertible into cash if they opted not to use it.
13th & 14th Month Pay - they received these earlier than those in the private sectors, usually in May and November of the year.
Alternative Work Arrangement (AWA) - this has been implemented since last year 2020. Government employees are enjoying some of these work arrangements like Work From Home (WFH), Staggered Working Hours, Compressed Hour Work and Skeletal WorkForce.
So being employed immediately in a government sector after I graduated from college, I really feel more blessed and more favored than those of my batch, who until now didn’t even get a single job yet.
Not until I discovered the financial concepts revealed in Robert Kiyosaki’s Cashflow Quadrant, in the book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad when I was in my late 30’s in 2013.

It's eye-opening for me and made me realize where I am in my financial status. It reveals that as an employee, my income is Active. Meaning to say, I am paid for trading my time with my job. From 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, I need to report to work so I can get my salary on the 15th and 30th day of the month. In other words, I work hard for the money!
Apparently, it leads me to learn that there is that so-called Passive Income, where money can work for me. I was eager to know how I would do it because I learned that it is not wise to have only one source of income.
Worst thing I learned about being an employee was, I am in the rat-race. If you search in google, it will give you this definition;
A rat race is an endless, self-defeating, or pointless pursuit. The phrase equates humans to rats attempting to earn a reward such as cheese, in vain. It may also refer to a competitive struggle to get ahead financially or routinely.
Mag-shopee or mag-online shopping pag may matira.

So I decided to CHANGE.
2013 - I searched for more knowledge and strived to become financially literate. I read lots of books and ebooks, attended different seminars and webinars, enrolled in online courses, followed online coaches and got mentors to guide me to learn online skills necessary to acquire other sources of income to increase my cash flow.
2014 - I applied for online gigs and became a Virtual Assistant (VA). I did simple tasks like copy/paste, transcription, email-scraping, commenting and posting and other general admin jobs. I couldn’t explain how I felt when I first earned my first $100 online income from Paypal.
2015 - I was exhausted having a full-time job and at the same time, grinding even until wee hours of the night for my part-time online gigs as VA. That’s when I realized that I was earning active income pa rin dahil nga I was still trading my time with money. Resulta - pagod na pagod na at wala ng oras sa pamilya.
2016 - I leveraged to earn from passive income sources and learned about Affiliate Marketing. It’s one of the most lucrative ways of making money online. Again, I enrolled in more online courses and got mentors to guide me. Until I learned the skills and was invited to be a webinar guest speaker to be interviewed for earning a semi-passive income as an affiliate marketer. Get exclusive access to my webinars here: LINK.
2017 - As I continued learning more online skills from different coaches and mentors, I was able to publish a physical book with an ebook version entitled, “Monetize Yourself Online - How to Build an Online Career While Being A Full-time Employee”and was featured in Bo Sanchez’ Wealth Strategies newsletter. Do you want a copy of my book? Grab it HERE.
2018 - I surrounded myself with like-minded people by joining online communities of those with the same goals like mine which is, “To achieve time and financial freedom”. So in a span of 1 month, I achieved my income goal of having a 6-figure gross sales in e-commerce.
But you know - Struggle is REAL!
It's not that easy transitioning from being an employee to becoming an entrepreneur. Being an employee for over two (2) decades now, it is so hard to let go of things you are used to. Changing mindset and habits is a lot of work to do. I am struggling in working consistently on my pursuit to change.
Failure is inevitable. But for every failure, great lessons are learned and I grow from it. Failure is part of the process. Thanks to my new found friends from online community that I understand that failure is not the opposite of success, but it is part of success. So it is really important to choose your circle of friends and get mentors and coaches to help you reach your goals.
I learn to embrace failure and just enjoy the journey to entrpreneurship. Until recently, I was reconnected to one of my classmates from online courses I took years ago, I was inspired to work on my goals again. She is helping me get back to momentum and guide me to rise from my fall. She plays a great role in my come back to my employpreneur journey. We are of the same type of personality, we are both introverts. But I gained insights from her and witness how she has become successful even being an introvert. She is my inspiration for the new ebook I authored which I would like to share to my fellow introverted employees ....
